This CD combines traditional Indian ragas, Central
North African. Turkish and Middle Eastern melodies and rhythms with
Buddhist mantras and songs. Lama Yeshe Rinpoche's use of the acoustic
steel string guitar in modal tunings returns the guitar to its original
timbres found in the lute, oud and Persian Tar and creates a subtle
weaving of modal melodies with Rahul Sakyaputras superb classical sitar
styling. In addition, the guitar becomes a powerful rhythm partner with
Ron Wagner's brilliant tabla virtuosity. Lama Yeshe Rinpoche and
MiraBai Khandro's spiritual chanting styles seamlessly merge with the
unique instrumental offerings of The WindHorse Ensemble, creating a
fresh and spiritually evocative musical experience for the listener.
